The DeGroote School of Business guarantees each Full-time student a minimum of $34,000 of funding per year in scholarships, teaching assistantship and research assistantship positions for 4 years in the program. Many PhD students from DeGroote have also secured generous government scholarships from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) as well as earning Ontario Graduate Scholarships (OGS). Merit-based funding is available for Full-time PhD students in years 5 and 6.
When a student is awarded a major external scholarship, the graduate scholarship funding will be adjusted (i.e., it will be $10,000 instead of $15,000) for that academic year. This adjustment facilitates more equitable distribution among graduate students. DeGroote School of Business informs students about the adjustment policy in the PhD Program Student Handbook and when they win an external award or scholarship. The program will always strive for the student to be better off after being awarded a major external scholarship regardless of the adjustment.
