My PhD research explores how healthcare leaders define, detect, and manage failure in Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives. It aims to understand the challenges leaders face in identifying and responding to QI failures and how they learn from these experiences to improve healthcare quality and safety. By examining these processes, my study seeks to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of QI efforts in healthcare settings.

Headshot of Ahana Malhotra, a smiling woman with long, dark hair, wearing a dark blazer.

My research focuses on tackling food insecurity by creating systems that rescue surplus food and deliver it to those in need. I developed a mobile app that connects donors, retailers, and food-insecure individuals, using volunteer drivers and advanced optimization models to ensure faster, sustainable, and equitable delivery. By prioritizing underserved communities, my work leverages technology and collaboration to improve global food rescue systems.

I conduct research in empirical asset pricing, with a special interest in return predictability and hedge funds. I am attracted to topics where there is a large gap between the perspective of financial market participants and the perspective in the academic literature.

My favorite part of being on campus is the positive learning environment. It is inspiring to cross paths with people from diverse backgrounds, at different stages of their academic journeys, and who are seeking to develop both their intellectual and social skills. This creates a dynamic and enriching environment.

Headshot of Saina Sehatkar, a smiling woman with long, dark hair, wearing a plaid blazer.

My research focuses on understanding the factors that influence how older adults transition between different healthcare settings, such as acute care, long-term care, and home care. By identifying these factors, I aim to inform better decision-making and policies that ensure seniors can access the care they need when they need it.
