This course will examine the field of health policy analysis with particular emphasis on clinical, administrative and government policy. After establishing a framework by which to analyze policy – which will include consideration of stakeholders, pressure groups, values, institutions, and the media – various tools will be studied as a means of formulating and evaluating policy. Techniques from business, political science, economics, sociology, epidemiology, and history will be used. Specific policy topics will be presented as illustrations of this management art. This course is only available to PhD students.
