Health Management

The Health Management (HM) stream in the Business Administration PhD program has a strong emphasis on both research and the application of management and evaluation techniques and is designed to produce highly motivated and capable researchers and practitioners. The HM stream offers both full and part-time options. It prepares students to undertake and disseminate original research and to make significant advances in their chosen field of study. The HM stream aims to attract applicants who wish to pursue (1) specialized careers in academia or (2) senior-level management positions within the health care industry.

There will be full-time and part-time options for the Health Management field.

Required Courses

  • B790 – Seminar on Management Theory

Six HM PhD courses:

  • B793 – Applied Multivariate Statistics
  • B794 – Research Methods and Design
  • C711/C781 – Health Economics and Evaluation
  • C721/C782 – Health Policy Analysis
  • A mixed methods research course (course titles TBD)

And at least one of:

  • C715 – Health Care Funding and Resource Allocation
  • C722 – Management of Population Health
  • C736 – Quality Management in Health Services
  • C741 – Health Care Marketing
  • C750 – Legal and Ethical Issues in Health Care
  • C725 – Managing Communications in Health Care
